Saria grade 60, cement, bricks, crush and sand rates in Lahore, each with a last-checked date and source, plus what they mean for your grey structure budget.

Steel (Saria Grade 60)
Steel is a major cost line in an RCC frame, so a movement in the per-ton rate shows up in your grey structure budget. Quotes are normally given per ton for a stated grade. Grade 60 is the usual bar for beams, columns and slabs; ask any supplier to name the grade and the manufacturer on the bill.
When you compare two steel quotes, check three things: the grade, whether the rate is for a full ton of ordered quantity or a small lot, and whether delivery to site is included. Mill-marked bars with a weight tolerance you can check on a scale are worth more than a lower rate on unmarked bar.
Cement
Cement is priced per 50 kg bag and differs by brand and by dealer. A bag price quoted by one dealer for a pickup is not comparable with a delivered price for a truck load. The table lists brands separately so you can see the spread rather than a single average.
Check the packing date on the bag. Cement that has been stored for months in a damp shop loses strength, whatever the brand and whatever the price.
Bricks, Crush and Sand
Bricks are sold per 1,000, and the class of brick matters more than the rate: a cheaper brick that is under-burnt or uneven can behave very differently in a wall from a sound one. Our separate guide to brick types and rates covers how to judge them.
Crush and sand are sold by volume or by truck. Confirm the unit before comparing: a truck of sand from one supplier is not the same volume as a truck from another. Ask for the size of crush (for concrete, the grading must suit the mix) and ask whether the sand is washed.
What These Rates Mean for Grey Structure Cost Per Sq Ft
The material rates feed a per-square-foot figure, but they are not the whole of it. Labour, shuttering, supervision, plastering and the contractor's own margin all sit inside a grey structure rate. A rise in steel or cement shifts the total; it does not move it one-for-one. To see how a rate becomes a budget for your plot, read grey structure cost per square foot in Lahore.
If you are still deciding what you can afford, start from your total and work backwards. Our guide on building a house on a fixed budget shows how.
How to Buy Without Overpaying
- Get at least three dated quotes for steel and cement, and write down the date. Rates in Lahore move, and an old quote is not a price.
- Ask each dealer for the quote in writing, with brand, grade, unit, quantity and whether delivery is included.
- Compare like with like: same grade, same brand, same delivery terms.
- Weigh and count on delivery. Check bar markings, bag packing dates and brick class before you unload.
- Keep every bill. Matching bills to the quantity in your bill of quantities is the simplest way to catch leakage.
- If you are abroad, have someone you trust receive deliveries, or use a contractor who shares bills and photos. Our page for Pakistanis building from abroad explains how we handle this.
How We Source and Update These Rates
Each rate in the table is taken from a named dealer or supplier, and the table shows the date it was checked and who gave it. We do not publish a rate that does not have both. If a row shows no date, treat it as not current.
The page is meant to be refreshed weekly. The rate, the date and the source are replaced together, so a new number never appears next to an old date.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which steel grade is used for house construction in Lahore?
Grade 60 saria is the common choice for beams, columns and slabs. Ask your supplier or contractor to name the grade and the manufacturer on the bill.
Is the cement rate the same for every brand?
No. Rates differ by brand and by dealer, and a delivered price is not comparable with a pickup price. Compare the same brand under the same delivery terms.
How often do building material rates change?
They can move from week to week. Each row in the table carries the date it was checked, and why a rate without a date should not be relied on.
Do these rates include delivery?
Check the source column and the unit. A rate is only comparable with another if both state whether delivery to site is included.
Can I use these rates to work out my grey structure cost?
They show direction, not a total. Labour, supervision and other items also sit inside a grey structure rate. Use the grey structure cost guide, then ask for a written quote for your plot.
